Features
LiveStats web analytics server is
designed to read web server activity log files via
a TCP/IP network. It then interprets and archives
the resulting statistical data in supported SQL
databases that are thousands of times smaller than
the original log files. Marketing, management and
technical users connect to
LiveStats using the web browser installed on
their desktop to query the company websites and
generate reports showing marketing, usage and
technical web data.
Clustered Web Sites
LiveStats supports up to 10-way
clustering (up to 99 way clusters are supported in
the Service Provider edition). In a typical
clustered setup, two or more web servers are used
to host a web site with each web server
independently writing its own log files. When
LiveStats imports log files for a clustered web
site, it serializes the log files, processes them,
and then stores the processed data in its SQL
database.
LiveStats
Components
LiveStats consists of three components:
the LiveStats Reporting Server, theLiveStats Data
Collector, and the SQL database. The standard
install using MySQL installs all components on the
same computer. The installation for customers who
wish to use their Microsoft® SQL Server 2000
allows for the database to be located on a
different computer.
Web Based
Interfaces LiveStats
uses 3 web-based interfaces; global
administration, virtual server administration and
reporting. With a browser on every desktop, web
based management makes viewing reports,
configuration and administration conveniently
available anywhere on your network.
Permissions
Accounts and Permissions are used to control
access to the LiveStats administration and
reporting interfaces. This makes it possible for
you to configure LiveStats in order to allow
specific people to do such tasks as creating
watches and defining filters. You can further
control which individuals can view reports and
which reports they are allowed to view.
Historical Data
One of the unique capabilities of LiveStats is its
ability to track historical data. Historical data
not only provides an excellent backdrop for
comparing current data, it is also used to
forecast trends based on larger data samples.
Help System
Two detailed help systems are integrated within
LiveStats. Quick end-user online help is available
within the reporting interface and technical help
is available within the Global Administration and
Virtual Server administration interface.
